(AP) ? Sidney Crosby isn't just dealing with the lingering effects of a concussion. A California doctor says the Pittsburgh Penguins' star also is recovering from a neck injury.

And Crosby's agent, Pat Brisson, said he can't rule out the possibility that the injury could be to his vertebrae.

"There's been speculation that I really can't comment on at this point," Brisson said Saturday night at the All-Star game skills competition in Ottawa. "I can't rule it out. I don't know. I'm not a radiologist."

Brisson also said he didn't consider the findings to be a setback.

Crosby visited with neurological spine specialist Dr. Robert S. Bray in Los Angeles this week as he continues treatment for symptoms that resurfaced during a loss to Boston on Dec. 5.

While Crosby initially said he didn't sustain a concussion against the Bruins, the team says Bray diagnosed Crosby with one and also discovered an unspecified neck injury, though Bray told the team the neck injury is "fully healed."

Crosby missed more than 10 months after sustaining head shots in consecutive games in early January 2011. He returned on Nov. 21 and had 12 points in eight games before the symptoms resurfaced following a physical game against the Bruins.

The team said Bray's findings will be evaluated by independent specialists.

General manager Ray Shero said at the All-Star game in Ottawa that Crosby had returned from California and that he was "optimistic" Crosby will play again this season.

"He's back in Pittsburgh now, hopefully we'll see next week where he is and we'll get the reports from California and compare notes to what's been done so far," Shero said.

Brisson said Crosby both looked and felt good while skating on his own last week, but there's no timetable as to when the player might be ready to play.

"Sidney's doing his best to be back playing as quick as he can and first of all safe," Brisson said. "His goal is to play hockey, and he'll play. The sooner the better."

The Canadian web site sportsnet.ca, citing unidentified sources, reported Crosby visited with a doctor in Utah, where an MRI revealed an abnormality in two vertebrae in Crosby's neck.

The 24-year-old Crosby acknowledged earlier this month he was still experiencing headaches and motion problems. He traveled to Atlanta recently to visit with Dr. Ted Carrick, a chiropractic neurologist who successfully treated Crosby last summer.

Crosby has been cleared for light exercise and skated with his teammates during a road trip through Florida two weeks ago.

The Penguins entered the All-Star break on a seven-game winning streak. Pittsburgh returns to practice Monday and will host Toronto on Tuesday night.

The team has stressed Crosby will not play until he is ready.

"The thing with Sidney is we want to continue to look to see how we can get this under control and manageable so he can return to play," Shero said. "As I said before he's not (playing) until those symptoms resolve but hopefully have him back at some point here soon."

Costa offers $14.5K/passenger for ruined cruise (AP)

ROME ? Costa Crociere SpA has offered passengers euro11,000 ($14,460) apiece to compensate them for their lost baggage and psychological trauma after its cruise ship ran aground and capsized off Tuscany when the captain deviated from his route.

Costa, a unit of the world's biggest cruise operator Carnival Corp., will also reimburse passengers the full costs of their cruise, travel expenses and any medical expenses sustained after the grounding.

The agreement was announced Friday after a day of negotiations between Costa representatives and Italian consumer groups representing 3,206 people from 61 countries who suffered no physical harm when the Costa Concordia hit a reef on Jan. 13.

Passengers and crew are free to pursue legal action if they aren't satisfied with the deal.

John Chadima Resignation: UW Athletic Official Accused Of Grabbing A Student's Crotch At A Party

MADISON, Wis. ? A University of Wisconsin student alleged that an athletic department official grabbed his crotch at an alcohol-fueled party during the football team's trip to the Rose Bowl, according to an independent report released by the school on Tuesday night.

The report says the student alleges former senior associate athletic director John Chadima put his hand down the student's pants at the end of a party in Chadima's suite at a Los Angeles hotel on Dec. 31.

The student ? identified only as John Doe in the report ? said he was "shocked and frightened" and slapped Chadima's hand away.

Chadima was put on administrative leave on Jan. 6 and resigned the same day. He previously had issued an apology for a "lapse in judgment," and issued another statement through his attorney Tuesday.

"I make no excuses and have come to the realization that over the past few months, alcohol had controlled and consumed my life," Chadima said. "I am taking steps to correct that problem in my life at this time. I will take full responsibility for my lack of judgment and actions that evening."

The report said its findings were based on interviews with 23 people, including students and professional staff ? but they were "not able to arrange an interview" with Badgers football coach Bret Bielema.

Three student employees of the athletic department declined to be interviewed.

The report also reviewed information from Chadima's office computer and school-issued cell phone.

Chadima declined to speak with the panel.

The report said Chadima hosted a bowl game party for staff and student employees for at least the past four years. The most recent party began Dec. 30 and lasted into the early morning hours of Dec. 31, at Chadima's hotel suite. According to the report, Chadima provided "alcohol, beer and mixers" and guests were invited to serve themselves. Some of the guests were under age 21.

Sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m., the alleged victim was leaving along with the last few people left at the party when he said Chadima asked him to "stay here and have a drink with me." The alleged victim said he and Chadima both had several more drinks and "probably were intoxicated," but were coherent and in control of their physical movements.

According to the report, Chadima then said he thought the student was gay, and said some of the other student employees thought he was gay. The student said it made him "uncomfortable and defensive."

The student then said Chadima reached over and removed the student's belt, putting his hands inside the student's pants and touching his genitals. The student said he slapped Chadima's hand away and swore at him.

At that point, the student said Chadima said he thought the student liked it, asking "What are you going to do about it?" and saying, "I could have you fired."

The student said he quickly left the room, and Chadima seemed to want to gloss over the incident as "just joking around."

The report said the student then went to the hotel room of his immediate supervisor, whose name is redacted in the report, and related the incident. The student said at the time he didn't want to do anything that would jeopardize the team's Rose Bowl preparations.

The student then told a consistent version of the story to three fellow student employees. The report says the student was "pleased and satisfied" with the supportive response he received from the supervisor and fellow students.

The student traveled on the team charter flight back to Madison on Jan. 3.

According to the report, the two unidentified officials called UW police lieutenant Jason Whitney on the morning of Jan. 4; Whitney had traveled with the team to the Rose Bowl.

In a meeting that afternoon, Whitney presented a Dec. 13, 2011, memo from UW-Madison police department chief Susan Riseling which emphasized that any employee witnessing or receiving a report about a sexual assault is required to report it to the Dean of Students office. According to the report, Whitney emphasized the importance of acting promptly.

But the report said the unidentified officials felt "uneasy" about reporting the incident without alerting officials in the athletic department. They described the incident to Holly Weber, the athletic department's human relations director.

Weber said she would discuss it with senior university legal counsel John Dowling, and asked them to wait until she got back to them to contact the dean. That meeting happened Jan. 6, where the unnamed officials who called Whitney were told to stop the athletic department's investigation of the incident and that the chancellor's office would decide how to proceed.

According to the report, the chancellor and Athletic Director Barry Alvarez determined Chadima would be placed on administrative leave. The chancellor decided to appoint a committee to conduct the investigation.

Chadima did not specifically address any of the report's allegations in his statement.

"I have learned a very hard lesson through this process, am paying a difficult price for my actions, and I hope that a lesson can somehow be learned by all from this situation," he said. "I also hope that my apologies will be accepted, and forgiveness given."

(AP) ? An elderly man discarding fireplace ashes accidentally touched off the brush fire that raged south of Reno, destroying 29 homes and forcing thousands of people to flee the flames, authorities said.

The man admitted his role by improperly disposing of the ashes at his home.

Investigators already had tracked the origin of the fire to a location in East Lake on the north end of the Washoe Valley, where the man lives about 20 miles south of downtown Reno.

"He came forward on his own accord," Reno Fire Chief Michael Hernandez said. "He has given statements to our investigators as well as law enforcement officers. He is extremely remorseful."

Fueled by 82 mph wind gusts, the blaze burned nearly 3,200 acres and forced the evacuation of up to 10,000 people Thursday.

A break in the weather and calmer winds allowed firefighters to get the upper hand on the blaze Friday.

Hernandez estimated it to be 65 percent contained Friday night. He said 300 firefighters would remain on the scene through the night checking for hot spots along with another 125 support people, including law enforcement officers and the Nevada National Guard.

The next challenge may be the forecast for rain and snow in the mountains on Saturday, which officials fear could cause flooding in burned areas.

The Highway Patrol said Friday night that all of U.S. Highway 395 between Reno and Carson City had reopened.

Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley said a formal case file will be forwarded to the district attorney next week for consideration of charges.

"The DA will have to give this case a lot of deliberation," Haley said.

"The fact he came forward and admitted it plays a role. But so does the massive damage and loss of life," he said. "It's a balancing act."

In addition to the potential for facing jail time on arson charges, the man could also be ordered to pay the cost of fighting the fire, which already totals $690,000.

Washoe County Manager Katy Simon said she expects the final bill to run into the millions of dollars.

Gov. Sandoval toured the fire damaged area Friday, describing it as "horrendous, devastating."

"There is nothing left in some of those places except for the chimneys and fireplaces," he said.

The blaze started shortly after noon Thursday and, fueled by the wind, mushroomed to more than 6 square miles before firefighters stopped its surge toward Reno.

The strong, erratic winds caused major challenges for crews evacuating residents, Sierra Front spokesman Mark Regan said. "In a matter of seconds, the wind would shift," he said.

Haley confirmed that the body of June Hargis, 93, was found in the fire's aftermath, but her cause of death has not been established, so it's not known if it was fire related.

Jeannie Watts, the woman's 70-year-old daughter, told KRNV-TV that Hargis' grandson telephoned her to tell her to evacuate but she didn't get out in time.

About 2,000 people remained subject to evacuation, and about 100 households still were without power.

Marred in Reno's driest winter in more than 120 years, residents had welcomed the forecast that a storm was due to blow across the Sierra Nevada this week.

Instead, thousands found themselves fleeing their homes Thursday afternoon.

Connie Cryer went to the fire response command post Friday with her 12-year-old granddaughter, Maddie Miramon, to find out if her house had survived the flames.

"We had to know so we could get some sleep," Cryer said, adding her house was spared but a neighbor's wasn't. She had seen wildfires before, but nothing on this scale.

"There was fire in front of me, fire beside me, fire behind me. It was everywhere," she said. "I don't know how more didn't burn up. It was terrible, all the wind and the smoke."

Fire officials said Thursday's fire was "almost a carbon copy" of a blaze that destroyed 30 homes in Reno during similar summer-like conditions in mid-November.

State Forester Pete Anderson said he has not seen such hazardous fire conditions in winter in his 43 years in Nevada. Reno had no precipitation in December. The last time that happened was 1883.

An inch of snow Monday ended the longest recorded dry spell in Reno history, a 56-day stretch that prompted Anderson to issue an unusual warning about wildfire threats.

"We're usually pretty much done with the fire season by the first of November, but this year it's been nonstop," Anderson said.

Kit Bailey, U.S. Forest Service fire chief at nearby Lake Tahoe, said conditions are so dry that even a forecast calling for rain and snow might not take the Reno-Tahoe area out of fire danger.

"The scary thing is a few days of drying after this storm cycle and we could be back into fire season again," he said.

Chevron appeals $18 billion ruling in Ecuador lawsuit (Reuters)

SAN FRANCISCO/QUITO (Reuters) ? Chevron Corp (CVX.N) has filed an appeal with Ecuador's National Court of Justice to review a judgment that the U.S. oil company pay $18 billion in damages for polluting the Amazon jungle.

Chevron was ordered by an Ecuadorian judge to pay the damages after a fraught legal battle that has lasted nearly two decades and looks like it will run longer.

The California oil company inherited the case when it bought Texaco a decade ago. Its appeal on Friday argues the lower courts violated Ecuador's constitution by refusing to take corrective action in response to what Chevron calls "extensive fraud and corruption" committed by the plaintiffs' lawyers and representatives.

Chevron said the original judgment, delivered last February by a lower Ecuadorian court in Lago Agrio, was based on faulty evidence and retroactive application of a law, while ignoring releases of liability granted to Texaco by Ecuador in the 1990s.

"Today's appeal gives the National Court of Justice an opportunity to correct the grave injustices that have occurred in this case," Hewitt Pate, Chevron's general counsel, said in a statement.

Plaintiffs have responded to the accusations by citing Chevron's own test data in documenting the pollution and arguing that Ecuador's release for Texaco did not prevent third parties from suing for damages.

In related litigation in New York, the plaintiffs also accuse the company of mishandling soil and water samples during the Lago Agrio trial by maintaining two different laboratories, based on testimony from a Chevron expert.

Along with the appeal in Ecuador, Chevron asked that it not be required to post a bond to prevent enforcement of the judgment during the appeal process, arguing that such a payment would violate Ecuador's obligations under an order issued last February by an international arbitration tribunal.

Pablo Fajardo, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said the next step would be to see whether the Lago Agrio appeals court requires Chevron to pay.

"If it asks (Chevron) to pay a bond, and if it pays the bond, then only the bond can stop us from carrying out the sentence," Fajardo told Reuters.

Asked if the plaintiffs were looking at any country in particular where it could seek to collect the damages, he said they would first await the decision on the bond. "We haven't done anything, we don't have any plans yet," Fajardo said.

The entire case may be reheard far from both Ecuador and the United States. The arbitration tribunal in The Hague, operating under a U.S.-Ecuador treaty, ordered Ecuador to take all measures at its disposal to suspend enforcement of the Lago Agrio judgment until the arbitrators have their say.

The tribunal is expected to rule any day on the question of whether or not it has jurisdiction in the case.

AP: Prof to seek dismissal of NJ child porn case (AP)

EAGLESWOOD TOWNSHIP, N.J. ? An architecture professor arrested after firefighters battling a blaze at his Jersey shore home found a 1970s magazine depicting naked prepubescent girls plans to seek dismissal of the child endangerment charge though a pretrial intervention program, his lawyer said Friday.

Attorney Hal Haveson told The Associated Press that Gamal El-Zoghby acknowledges the magazine found by firefighters Tuesday was his. But the 76-year-old professor at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., bought it decades ago and hasn't looked at it since, the attorney said.

"It was stuff he had discarded from his mind, just not from his home," Haveson said.

El-Zoghby is charged with child endangerment as a result of the discovery of the magazine in question.

It is but one of a collection of 60 or 70 adult magazines found by firefighters who responded to a blaze at El-Zoghby's waterfront home just before noon Tuesday, Haveson said. State police said only one magazine contained images of naked prepubescent girls.

The vast majority of the magazines were Playboy and Hustler magazines from the 1970s, which the attorney said are much tamer than what is generally considered to be pornography today.

"And the fact that it was all from the 1970s reinforces my client's contention that this is stuff he hadn't seen in decades," Haveson said. "If this were someone who was into this, you'd expect to find a lot more, newer stuff."

The attorney wouldn't directly address why El-Zoghby had originally obtained the magazine in question, other than to say, "He had a reasonable, non-prurient explanation for that. It was not because he enjoyed child pornography." He declined to comment further.

The lawyer also said he's not sure that what's in the magazine meets the legal definition of child pornography. A lot depends on whether the images are intended to appeal to prurient or sexual interests, he said.

"My client doesn't know because he hasn't seen this in decades," he said.

The architect had intended for years to throw away the magazine but never did, his attorney said.

El-Zoghby is due in Eagleswood municipal court on Wednesday for a brief hearing, at which the judge is expected to refer the case to state Superior Court, Haveson said.

Ultimately, El-Zoghby will apply for New Jersey's pretrial intervention program, which lets certain first-time offenders charged with nonviolent crimes have their criminal record wiped clean if they complete the program and stay out of trouble. Prosecutors would have to agree to let him enter the program in order to avoid a trial.

El-Zoghby's request to enter the program is not expected to be made until the case reaches the Superior Court level.

The professor is on a leave of absence at Pratt while the school investigates. A spokeswoman said Friday his status had not changed.

"This is all stuff from the 1970s; that's really important," Haveson said. "What someone does in their younger years does not define the man. He is not a collector of child pornography. My client had not paid any attention to this in decades."

IBM 4Q earnings beat estimates, revenue falls shy (AP)

SAN FRANCISCO ? IBM Corp.'s fourth-quarter earnings handily beat Wall Street's expectations on Thursday, helped by higher revenue and profit margins in the technology icon's lucrative software and services segments.

The results and IBM's stronger-than-expected outlook for this year sent IBM's stock up more than 2 percent after hours. The company offered a welcome sign of stability amid the global economic turmoil that's prompting worries about a slowdown in technology spending by businesses and governments, who are IBM's customers.

One sore spot was revenue, which fell short of analyst expectations; the rise in software and services revenue wasn't enough to offset a decline in hardware. Also, the stronger dollar is squeezing overseas revenue.

IBM earned $5.49 billion, or $4.62 per share, in the three months that ended Dec. 31. That's up 4 percent from $5.26 billion, or $4.25 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were $4.71 per share, easily surpassing analysts' expectations of $4.61 per share.

Revenue grew 2 percent to $29.49 billion from $29.02 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected slightly higher revenue of $29.7 billion.

IBM said currency shifts since its last quarterly report in October lowered fourth-quarter revenue by about $300 million. The deepening economic crisis in Europe, along with the continuing weakness in the U.S. economy and signs of a slowdown in emerging markets are prompting worries about global companies like IBM.

But IBM has long said its long-term contracts insulate it from economic swings, and its full-year forecast is bright. IBM expects adjusted earnings of at least $14.85 per share, above the $14.77 per share that analysts are predicting.

New CEO Ginni Rometty said IBM is "well on track" toward its long-term goal of hitting at least $20 per share in adjusted earnings in 2015 ? a rare example of a long-term earnings target disclosed publicly by a such a large company.

Revenue rose at two of IBM's three largest divisions ? software by 9 percent and services by 3 percent. Hardware revenue fell 8 percent. In the third quarter, IBM's services revenue grew 8 percent, its software revenue climbed 13 percent and its hardware revenue rose 4 percent.

By geography, IBM said revenue from the Americas grew 3 percent in the fourth quarter. Revenue from Europe, the Middle East and Africa combined was up 1 percent and revenue from Asia increased 2 percent.

IBM said its new contract signings were $20.4 billion in the fourth quarter, slightly above analysts' expectations. The company's services backlog at the end of the year was $141 billion, up by $4 billion from the end of the third quarter. Services backlog refers measures the value of work under contract that the company expects to book as revenue in future quarters.

For all of 2011, IBM earned $15.86 billion, or $13.06 per share, up 7 percent from $14.83 billion, or 11.52 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were $13.44 per share, above analysts' expectations of $13.36 per share.

Revenue was $106.92 billion, up 7 percent from $99.87 billion in 2010. Wall Street was expecting $107.08 billion.

The Armonk, N.Y.-based company's stock rose $4.53, or 2.5 percent, to $185.05 after hours. The stock had closed down 55 cents at $180.52.

Baylor still No. 1 in AP women's basketball poll (AP)

Baylor remains the unanimous No. 1 choice in The Associated Press women's college basketball poll.

Baylor has a challenging week ahead, visiting No. 17 Texas Tech and hosting No. 23 Kansas State. The Wildcats entered the Top 25 for the first time since the final poll of 2009 after beating then-No. 10 Texas Tech by one point.

Notre Dame, Connecticut, Stanford and Duke followed Baylor. Kentucky jumped to sixth after beating Tennessee and South Carolina. Rutgers was seventh and Maryland fell to eighth after losing at Miami for its first loss. The Lady Vols and Ohio State round out the first 10.

Penn State rejoined the poll at No. 22 after defeating Nebraska, which fell from 15th to 20th. Gonzaga and South Carolina dropped out a week after entering the Top 25.

(AP) ? Police say a Lebanese-Swedish man detained in a Thai terror investigation was storing explosive materials in Bangkok before shipping them to another destination.

Bangkok police commissioner Lt. Gen. Winai Thongson declined to say which country the suspect named as the destination because of national security concerns.

A Bangkok court later Tuesday ordered Atris Hussein detained for 12 days for illegally possessing explosive materials.

He led police Monday to a warehouse containing four tons of urea fertilizer and several gallons of liquid ammonium nitrate.

His arrest was linked to U.S. and Israeli warnings last week of a possible terror threat in Bangkok.

Man arrested over Twitter racism

''A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.''

Louis Saha, the French striker who plays for Everton, Rangers players Maurice Edu and Kyle Bartley and Inverness Gregory Tade have were all reported as being victims of racist tweets this month.

Saha was was told 'go back to France ya f****** n*****' after the account of a fan was allegedly accessed without permission.

Saha, 33, retweeted the message, adding: "Don't attached (sic) urself with the club. U disgrace."

It came to light on the day politicians called for an inquiry into racism in football.

Rangers' Kyle Bartley, who is on loan from Arsenal, and Maurice Edu, were alleged to have been targeted by Michael Convery, 41, from Glasgow, who was charged with making racist remarks on the social networking site and has since been bailed.

Bartley tweeted in response: "Disappointing that in 2012 things like this are still happening.?

Jon Huntsman Suspends Campaign, Endorses Mitt Romney (ContributorNetwork)

Today Jon Huntsman's campaign website features an open letter announcing the suspension of his campaign. In so doing, the former GOP nomination hopeful joins other notable Republicans who have dropped out of presidential races early on.

Jon Huntsman quits

Huntsman offered no reasons for the sudden halt of his campaign. He vows to go on "supporting the candidate who is best-equipped to defeat the president and return conservative leadership to the White House: Governor Mitt Romney." There is speculation the third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary -- as reported by The Ticket -- led to deeper soul-searching and the decision to drop out of the race. Huntsman's endorsement of Romney further solidifies the latter's lead.

Herman Cain quit first

The New York Times reported that on Dec. 3, Herman Cain called it quits. The candidate initially garnered a lot of support and handled himself reasonably well in debates but found his credibility eroding amid allegations of sexual misconduct. Taking his staffers by surprise, the candidate decided to throw in the towel. Cain made it clear he did not quit because he felt unequal to the fight; rather, he outlined "the continued distractions, the continued hurt caused on me and my family" convinced him it was time to end his current bid for the White House. At this time, Cain has not yet endorsed another Republican.

Michele Bachmann followed

Michele Bachmann followed suit on Jan. 4; the Hollywood Reporter outlined that a sixth-place finish in the Iowa caucus caused the conservative politician to re-evaluate her run for the presidency. It is interesting to note she initially had high hopes for a strong finish in Iowa, in part because she won the GOP's straw poll in the state in the summer. In part, a recent increase in faith community endorsements of her campaign did seem promising. Although Bachmann has quit the race, she has not offered her endorsement to any of the candidates.

February 2008: Mitt Romney suspended his campaign

Current Republican front-runner Romney decided to suspend his presidential campaign the last time he ran in 2008. The New York Daily News reported at the time that -- after the Super Tuesday primary elections -- he realized John McCain had garnered enough support among the electorate to make his own nomination unlikely. He went on to eventually endorse McCain.

Fresh iPhone Apps for Jan. 16: OnLive Desktop, UPS Mobile update, Bit-1, Hatchi (Appolicious)

OnLive is known for its streaming video game service, but that?s not why its new app is leading the charge on today?s Fresh Apps list. Instead, it?s OnLive Desktop, a more work-oriented app, that?s on our radar. The remote desktop app allows you to access your computer remotely, and you can even use programs like Microsoft Word or play games on your PC using it, all using your iPad. It?s followed by an update to the U.S. Postal Service?s app, USPS Mobile, that now allows you to do even more with your mail and your smartphone or tablet. In games, 1-Bit is like Super Mario Bros. if Mario were a robot and had a laser cannon, and Hatchi brings a virtual pet to your iPhone or iPad in the vein of those old Tamagotchi toys.

Streaming video game company OnLive has a new app out that brings your desktop computing experience to your iPad. It?s called OnLive Desktop, and it works similarly to other remote desktop apps by giving you access to your computer remotely on your iPad. The difference here is, OnLive has added a whole lot of functionality to give you the ability to use more of your computer?s resources than other remote desktop apps like the ability to work on Microsoft programs such as Word or Excel.

OnLive boasts that its Desktop app will also be able to support higher-intensity media viewing from your desktop to your iPad. You?ll be able to watch videos from your computer remotely and even play PC games on your tablet. The app also lets you transfer documents between devices.

The official app of the U.S. Postal Service has just gotten better, adding new capabilities that make use of your iOS device?s camera to make shipping, purchasing and tracking easier. Now you can use your iPhone or iPad?s camera to scan barcodes, allowing you to instantly track packages when you have a USPS tracking slip, without the hassle of having to enter long strings of numbers.

As always, the USPS app also allows you to do all kinds of things like find local drop boxes for mail, estimate shipping costs, look up zip codes and order supplies to be delivered straight to you. The app even lets you schedule package pickups to save you a trip to your local post office.

Bit-1 (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

A fast-moving platformer with an 8-bit aesthetic, Bit-1 casts you in the role of a robot searching for your kidnapped beloved. In each stage, you?ll want to rack up as many points as you can by taking out enemies and collecting the coins they drop, using your on-board cannon. You?ll also jump obstacles, avoid death from falling into pits and spikes, and collect power-ups that make your weapons more powerful.

Bit-1 has a bit of a Super Mario Bros. feel and moves at a pretty fast clip through its 25 stages. Earning tons of points in each stage by fighting off enemies and collecting coins can also allow you to see how you stack up against other players, thanks to Game Center support for achievements and leaderboards.

Hatchi (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Remember Tamagotchi, that virtual pet toy kids kept on their key rings back in the 1990s? Well, Hatchi brings those toys to your iOS device, complete with their low-res, pixel-y screens. You?ll care for your Hatchi from the moment it hatches, feeding it, playing with it, keeping it clean and teaching it stuff. When its energy runs out, you?ll have to put it to sleep, but if you don?t keep an eye on it, it?ll become unhappy.

You?ll need to give your Hatchi regular attention to keep it from kicking the bucket, but if you?re especially good at raising it, your Hatchi will eventually evolve. How you care for it will determine what it becomes in the long run, and the creature will go through several stages of growth along the way. It?s not a super-complex digital animal to take care of, but Hatchi should scratch your nostalgia itch and be pretty fun to boot.
