Roth IRAs and 401(k)s: A Government Approved Method For ...

Have you ever invested an opportunity, either real estate or some kind of private business opportunity, and after closing the deal you had to send a hefty portion of the profits to the IRS? Have you ever wondered what you can do to keep more of the profits earned from your hard work? With the retirement tools the government has established, the Roth IRAs and 401(k)s, you can do that.

If you have money set aside for your retirement, or if you are investing with money that you are not afraid to loose but would like to keep more of the profits the earned, you can do so through a Roth IRAs or 401(k). Traditional IRAs and 401(k)s are designed to receive funds prior to taxation and then hold those funds behind the tax wall until it is time for retirement. A Roth IRA gives its holder the opportunity to take the after tax funds and invest them and earn profits tax-free.

Now? Or Later?

Is it more beneficial to bear the tax burden now, or later? That is a great question that affects investors of all sorts. The answer is that it depends. If you make a lower rate of return on your investment then it makes the present value of the future amount worth more today than those that will return at a higher rate. Without going into grueling numbers and details, if you can get a high rate of return it is better to take the Roth IRA and bear the tax burden now rather than later.

Retirement

With the uncertainty with the national debt and the unfunded liabilities of $87 trillion, you may consider how you will be able to retire if you don?t have the ability to rely on social security benefits. What would you like your retirement to be like? Would you like to have the same amount of money available to you then so you can bear the cost of living? Or, would you like to have more money available so you can travel the world or enjoy other benefits with your time?
